The Student Council did three fundraisers this year, raising funds for very worthy charities.

Halloween Dress up Day - 27th October 2022Raised €500 for Ronald McDonald House Charity

Raised €500 for St. Brigid's Christmas Hampers 

Christmas Jumper Day - 16th December 2022 Raised €853.80.

This money was divided between Kerry Mental Health Association and Kerry Hospice Foundation.

Daffodil Day - 24th March 2023Raised €2,210 for the Irish Cancer Society.

The School Lost & found donated €300 to Kerry Mountain Rescue

Kerry Mental Health-Tie Day Friday

On the 23rd of April 2021 the school took part in “Tie Day Friday” in aid of Kerry Mental Health. Kerry Mental Health’s fundraising activities have been seriously hit due to Covid 19 and so we as a school wanted to help in any way we could. The school raised €1075 euro for the cause.

Kenya Education Project

The Kenya Education project is an organisation that is very close to our schools’ heart with retired teacher Eddie Sheehy behind the project. In December 2020 TY students, some teachers, and principal Ms. Moore took part in the 8000km “Kerry to Kenya Charity Gym cycle” Both students and staff were delighted to take part in this fundraiser as the Kenya Education Project has a positive impact on the lives of many children and their families yearly. The charity provides food and education for hundreds of children on or below the poverty line in Kenya. The charity also works in conjunction with St Vincent de Paul helping deliver clothes as well as financial aid to families. In June 2019 three teachers from the school Ms. Murphy, Ms. Brosnan and Ms. Cronin took the trip out to Kenya to help in anyway they could with the Kenya Education Project.

For Breast Cancer Awareness month, staff & students of St Brigid’s Killarney wore pink in support of this worthy cause.

Sponsored Sleep-Out in support with St Vincent De Paul

As part of the St Vincent De Paul programme run in TY Religion classes, our students are provided with opportunities to engage in social action in their local community and encourage personal and social development. In February 2020, the TY class of 2019/2020 organized a sponsored sleep out to raise awareness of homelessness in Ireland. Braving the extreme weather conditions at the time, students slept out on school grounds to raise awareness of homelessness and experience the hardship that they encounter daily.

We were very proud to hand over €1,270 to St Vincent De Paul to continue the work that they do. What an amazing amount raised by our girls and is testament to the work that was put in.

The girls were delighted to receive support from local Garda Jamie Lenihan & Garda John Moriarty, providing them with hot chocolate to warm up. Dignity Packs

As part of the St Vincent De Paul programme run in TY Religion classes, our students are provided with opportunities to engage in social action in their local community and encourage personal and social development. Students in TY 2019/2020 undertook a massive drive in the collection of essential hygiene items for women and children living in shelters or who find themselves homeless. Although it began as an initiative for women only, the girls soon realised the number of men who are impacted also and extended their collection for hygiene items for them.

After an outstanding reaction to a plea for donations, students of 4 Green in TY were humbled to give over 80 dignity packs and Argos vouchers to Adapt Tralee & St Vincent De Paul at our Christmas Carol Service.

Both ADAPT and St Vincent De Paul are very worthwhile charities. Both doing outstanding work in Kerry. One looking after women and children of domestic violence and one looking after the homeless of Kerry and Cork. The girls were delighted to help in any way.

LCVP students raise money for Voluntary Organisations

As part of LCVP, our students engage in an enterprise activity to raise funds and awareness for voluntary organisations in our community. In the last few years students have raised money for Pieta House, the Irish Cancer Society and the Irish Wheelchair Association.

LCA

LCA students support and raise money for many voluntary organisations including Pieta House and St. Vincent De Paul. Every year our LCA 1 and LCA 2 students support St. Vincent De Paul by volunteering a few hours to help sort out the deliveries, clean and merchandise the shop floor at Christmas time. They also set up Fundays for first years and all money is donated to a voluntary organisation. They visit the Killarney Nursing Home which they interact with old people and sing and dance with them.
