Irish Debating Team
Over the last two years, St. Brigid’s Junior Foireann Díospóireachta participated in the Gael Linn Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh – a national debating competition as Gaeilge.Our team reached the Regional Finals both years. The students worked on their written, oral and presenting skills as Gaeilge. Mar a deir an seanfhocal, ‘Beatha Teanga í a Labhairt’.
The ‘Young Translators Competition’
Our students have taken part in a national competition over the past few years which is run by the European Commission. The ‘Young Translators Competition’ involves translating documents from English to Irish (and also foreign languages such as French and Spanish). In 2021, one of our students, Rebecca Doyle, was ranked the best translator in Munster and was presented with an award by the Minister for State, Gaeltacht Affairs and Sport, Jack Chambers.
