St. Brigid’s Go Golfing!
At the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year we had a Junior Golf team represent our school at the Irish Championships.
Amber MacIndoe and Kate McCan came 3rd in the Munster West section of the Irish Schools Golf Championship. The tournament was played in Charleville Golf Club and it was Amber and Kate’s debut on schools’ golf tournament scene.
The school golf team is open to any student who holds a Golf Ireland playing handicap. Contact Ms. O’Donnell for more information.
Student’s at St. Brigid’s were also given the opportunity to try out the game of golf after school. There were golf lessons in April/May. These were organised with the Club Professional at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.
There was coaching provided on all areas of the game - putting, chipping, pitching and the long game.
The programme included a fun golf scramble competition out on the Lackabane course.
It was a great opportunity to try out a new activity and meet others with similar interests.
